Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week Review: Chanel

Finally, the one I’ve been waiting for: the always stunning Chanel.  Karl Lagerfeld has once again amazed us with his innovative ideas and fresh take on the trends.  I am thoroughly in love with the Chanel brand and Coco Chanel herself is basically my idol.  But I’m getting off topic…I want to show you two of my favourite looks from the collection presented earlier.  Also, just a quick side note, I am loving this idea of trainers instead of heels.  How empowering is it to see women in comfortable shoes for once.  We can practically see the extra bounce in their step.  I also think it’s such a new direction for fashion, and as much as I adore my heels and I could never give them up, I do love the trainers  on the runway.1bfe66ea-f7e1-44b0-9e33-b8b98ea70de2-320x480

This dress was one of my absolute favourites and it really jumped out for me.  I love the tiered skirt and top, but I also love the way it’s separated by a corseted torso.  I just really lengthens and slims the waist, and pronounces the bust and hips.  I really love the effect, plus who can refuse a well placed bow?
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????This dress particularly stood out for me because it looks like a modern take on the flapper dress.  I love the multi coloured feathery fabric, because I think that it really gives a lot of dimension to the dress.  I also love the detailing at the waist, because it adds a little extra to the dress without causing it to get too busy.  It also helps to keep the feathers from becoming too much, in my opinion.  Without the division she would have started to look like Big Bird going through his funk years.

Hope you enjoyed the Chanel show as much as I did and I would love to hear your opinions on it.
